Matthew T. Sonneby graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 2017 with a degree in Environmental Science. He later attended Gonzaga University School of Law, continuing the family legacy of becoming an attorney.

Matthew began his career in Washington State, where he successfully defended the State of Washington and its agencies in personal injury, insurance defense, and civil rights claims. He has since decided to turn his attention to the other side of the bar to defend criminal defendants in their hour of need. This decision brought him to Bend, Oregon, where he began in public defense, representing indigent and underrepresented individuals. He later joined Ward Grover & Thomas & Thomas, LLP, in Bend, Oregon, where he now works amongst the region's most respected criminal defense attorneys.

Matthew is admitted to the bar in Oregon, Washington State, the Federal District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Washington, and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. In his spare time, he enjoys biking, hiking, and traveling with his wife and three dogs.
